Yuuki Yamagiwa's passion for movement began at an early age, when her interest in stage combat and performing arts led her towards an extensive study and performance career in Asian sword and hand-to-hand stage combat, choreography, and masked movement performance. After over 15 years of experience as a movement artist, Yuuki discovered yoga and Pilates, which provided a form of healing for her physical injuries and mental strain resulting from the high pressures of her performing arts background. Upon graduating from UCLA, Yuuki received her Vinyasa yoga teacher training certification from Tamal Dodge and subsequently traveled to Mysore, India to study at the Shri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute. Yuuki also holds a Trauma-Informed Yoga for Youth certification from Kyra Haglund, as well as a Trauma-Informed Yoga certification from Liz Arch and Kate Berlin with The Purple Dot Yoga Project.
Yuuki continues to dedicate her studies to movement artistry and feels passionate about teaching. She has contributed to mindbodygreen and currently resides in Los Angeles, where she teaches private lessons, public classes, and workshops.
